Our Headteacher in Room 4, Sewells Point Elementary School

Mrs Conway took our letters with her on her holiday when she visited a class in their school.

The photograph on the left was taken by Mrs. Englert as Mrs. Conway tried to answer a barrage of questions about life in England and what english schools were like.

Mrs Englert is a *very* special teacher. As well as being named the 'Teacher of the Year' for the city of Norfolk, she received a Presidential award from the PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES himself -   Mr Clinton!!

Our Headteacher with Presidential Award Winning Teacher Mrs. Gail Englert.Mrs. Englert won the award for her work in science and mathematics in Sewells Point School.

The photo' on the right is of our Headteacher (left) and Presidential Award winning teacher Mrs. Gail Englert (right).

We think her class and school must be very proud of her – maybe she will be able to help us with our maths – even from across the Atlantic Ocean!

As well as a Hartley pup, we also sent a class photo' and individual photo's of ourselves to our respective 'keypals' so they can see what we look like. Along with our photo's we sent our first letters to our new friends.

Hartley Junior - guarding the homework assignments!Hartley, Jr is now sitting right in front of their homework board, guarding the assignments as can be seen in the photograph (left).

Mrs. Englert's class made us some booklets about themselves and they have also sent us letters by e-mail. We've got their photo's too - it's nice to be able to put a face to a name.

We are going to write back every month and tell them about life in Grange School and what it is like to live in Hartlepool. We might even send them a copy of the Hartlepool Mail (our local newspaper) from time to time!

The children of Mrs Englert's class - our keypals!!We are interested to find out about what it is like to live in America and what is the same or different for them at school.
