At the time of writing, the end of September '98, we are functioning as a school quite well.

What we had - a classroom
before the fire.

Today, temporary classrooms they may be, but they are clean
and warm
our children, staff and community will make them into 'our'
school.
The temporary classrooms have proved to be OK, the rooms in the lower school that prior to the fire were used for other purposes have made the transition back to classrooms very well too.
We miss our library, our kitchen and upper school hall though.
The library and it contents have all gone forever,
and if you looked around the school today, you'd see lots and lots of bookshelves
on most of the walls - even in the corridors.
As yet, there aren't that many books on them at the moment, but we don't expect to replace what we had built up over several years in a matter of just a few weeks.
The upper school hall we miss a lot! As well as being the larger of the two halls it was the most frequently used.
As well as P.E. for
the junior school classes, it was also our dining room too.
It was the one we counted on at Christmas, our concerts were always a sell out, with packed audiences.
The only hall we have left is what was known as the lower school hall, it is now very tightly timetabled with both upper and lower school classes using this for assembly, for P.E. and lunchtime too.
Our original kitchen was destroyed, but our meals
are made at another school and delivered each day in time for lunch.
We've just as much choice of food as ever but meal times have to managed even better than before.
The main thing though, is that as a school we are still together! In the first days after the fire, many thought that some of our pupils would have to attend other schools and that was a grave concern.
But as a family, we are still together in the one school, and things are improving all the time.
