One thing you learn in the military, the better you are at your job, the more people seem to need you. The Captain called me onto the bridge one day and told me that some 'very important' people in Washington D.C. had asked for the loan of one of his best men.
Well, I'm not a man but the C.O. thought that I was still the best that he had, so that's how I ended up here in Kansas City Missouri!
Like on any new assignment, I'm settling in for a while 'getting to know the ropes' would be the expression I'd use. You know, I miss the ship and being at sea but I can't complain too much - Kansas City is treating me like a V.I.P. (very important puppy).
