Mrs James - Class 9

Hello and welcome to Class 9's page!

In year 2 we have many things to share with you, from day to day work, concerts, and even treats out.  We hope you enjoy our special place upon the site, and come back soon to visit us!

ROAMER is a funny little robot, who likes to go on adventures, whether on the classroom floor, or on a computer.  Here we are trying to predict where he is heading on his adventure.

At times it seemed like ROAMER had a mind of his own!!

Look at the size of that sheet of paper!

DT is always an exciting subject!  Take a look at our fantastic puppets - you may even spot some traditional story characters you recognise!!!

As an award for the best attenders fo the first term, we were lucky enough to go BOWLING!!!!

Here we are having a fabulous time!

Watching and waiting...... Will we get a strike?

(Will we even hit a pin?!)

WOW!  Look at this action shot!!

One person watching their aim..another getting ready for their turn!

(I wonder what they are thinking...?)

You can see the excitement (and nerves really showing in this picture - look into the background!)

We had a lovely tea, and a great time was had by all!

I hope we win next term!!

We also have visitors come in to work with us.  In the next pictures you can see we were visited by Tees Valley Music Service.

How would a flower move?

Listen to the music and we will see you grow!!!

If we listen carefully to instructions...
We get a turn with the instruments!

The Xmas Concert certainly introduced us to some of the strangest characters!!

We even had a proposal!!!

(Sadly, they didn't make a gift list!!!)

Transport was arranged for Cinderella!  And how handsome do the coachmen look?!!

Two of the Princes' trusty servants!!  The one with the shoe was very impatient, after a long day with smelly feet!!!

Some BEAUTIFUL dancers were performing at the Palace.
Accompanied by their handsome partners!
Altogether now...  Aaaaaaaahhhhh!  Don't they look wonderful?

There were some strange children working in our classroom in the Christmas period - Can you tell who they are?

This is some of our work in Literacy.

We were looking at a shape poem, which would lead us into developing our own!

This is the poem;

Come and see the shape I'm in

TALL as a tale,

Thin as a pin,

Bright as a tin,

Dark as a cave,

Curved as a wave,

Wild as the rain,

Strong as a train,

I'm this, I'm that,

I'm here, I'm there

Everything and Everywhere.

James Carter

Once we had read this, we practised acting the poem out to other members of the class.

We used this to then write our own poems.

We began by reading the poem

in our pairs, and started to think how we could act these out.

How we could we act this?

Dark as a cave

Now we could add our own ideas!

What should we make 'Strong as a train' into?

Hmmmmmmm

Lets think together.

We work really well together in our groups.

Very productive children, in a very decorated classroom!!

Which word could we use to describe.............?

Examples of Our Poems are below;

The Shape I'm In

Come and see the shape I'm in;

Tall as a sky,

Thin as a ruler,

Wide as a starfish,

Bright as a sun,

Dark as a box,

Curved as a rainbow,

Wild as the tiger,

Strong as a bear,

I'm this....and that,

I'm here....I'm there

Everything.... and everywhere.

We have had the gymnast visit us.  We worked upon stretching, balances and posture.  We even saw some of his balances and tumbling!

                                             .

How far can you stretch?

We have also been learning and performing our own dances!  This is a tadpole - frog dance.

It was lots of fun pretending to be a wiggling tadpole!

Here we are as frogspawn!!

Now we are frogspawn turning into tadpoles!

Curl up small!!  Don't let the predators find you!!

Now we are turning into frogs!

Can you stretch you legs really far?!

We have lots of fun in Numeracy in class 9!

Here we are trying to make 3d shapes with plasticine.  If you look carefully, you can see;

a cylinder,

a cone,

a cube,

and a sphere.

I wonder what shape is being made here?

Can you see one of the shapes from the list?

Working really hard here!!

What 2 shapes can you see?

Well.... A pyramid is quite tricky to make with plasticine!!

....Or was it a cone?... You decide!!!

We work very well in groups to work out measurements.  Here we are trying to puzzle our way through problems involving length!

D.T is very enjoyable!

So far we have designed and made our own vehicles!

Now we are beginning to make puppets!!  We will have them ready to show you soon!

Our page is still under construction, so please visit us later and we will have more things to share with you!
