A Day at Beamish Museum

Beamish is a world famous open air museum which recreates life in the North of England in the early 1800s and 1900s.. Most of the houses, shops and other buildings have been "deconstructed" from elsewhere in the region and rebuilt there. Beamish is a superb living, working experience of life in the Great North.

Take a look at what the children did during their visit.

Here are the children all dressed up in 1900's attire, don't they look great

Here the children experience a Victorian lesson, they are using ink wells and real ink pens to write with and what a good job they did too! See the blotting paper on the desk, do any Mams and Dads remember those days?! The teacher looks very stern looking as he stands with his cane!

Here the children take a trip on the tram and have a look at some other forms of transport that would have been used back then.

Here we have 1 of the many shops in the town displaying a good selection of items for sale.
The children also visit the mine which is extremely dark and cramped, but they have their safety helmets on.

Finally 2 of our pupils who really look the part.

The children had a really good day being transported back in time for a short while.
