Towers, Tunnels and Turrets

Our first topic of the academic year is Towers, Tunnels and Turrets. During this topic we will be focusing on castles. In History we will be learning about castles and what life was like inside of castle. We will also be learning about the people who lived inside of castles in the past. In Art and design we will be designing and making our own tower for a wicked witch and in computing we will be using search engines to find castle images. 

In Maths we will be focusing on place value of numbers to 100 and addition and subtraction of two digit numbers. 

In English we will be learning how to write a narrative, a recount and a non-chronological report. Our author of the term is Anthony Brown and we will be looking at his work in Guided Reading. 

Towers

As part of our Art and Design work we designed and made towers for the wicked queen. We designed our towers so that a princess could not escape!

Archery Wow Event with WVP

Andre and Tom from the West View Project came to help us with our bow and arrow skills.

By the end of the day we were experts. 

The Castle at Newcastle

We visited The Castle at Newcastle and we learned how to be knights. We had to serve the adults their drinks and learn how to use a sword! 

Halloween Disco

We all had lots of fun at the Halloween Disco! We enjoyed playing Halloween party games and dancing with our friends!

DT Lego Christmas Trains

As part of our DT work we designed and made Lego trains to go around a Christmas Tree. We had to follow our design criteria and ensure that our trains could move and travel around the class Christmas tree. 

Enterprise

For our enterprise project we decorated and sold gingerbread biscuits. We calculated the cost of the biscuits against a profit for our chosen charity and decided to sell the biscuits for 20p each. Our biscuits were a huge success and we sold out! All of our profit went to charity.
