Grange Primary School

Grow, Persevere, Succeed. Be the best you can be!

Term 1

Industrial Revolution

Our topic this term is 'Industrial Revolution'. We are looking at the history of the railway and primary and secondary sources from this time.

In science, we are looking at Evolution and Inheritance and how animals are adapted to their environments. We will be creating non-chronological reports about a range of animals in English to link with this.

Class Novels

Our class novels this half term are 'Holes' by Louis Sachar and 'Street Child' by Berlie Doherty.

Visitors

This half term we welcomed visitors into Y6, including The British Red Cross and  Newcastle University.

We learnt basic first aid and how to keep ourselves safe when carrying this out.

The children created their own animals with visitors from Newcastle University and completed an 'Adaption Workshop'.

Trips

In the first half term we also visited Crucial Crew at Hartlepool EDF Power Station to learn about how to stay safe in a variety of situations.

Y6 members of Science Club also visited the Bring It On North East event in Sunderland which was to inspire future engineers.

Some of our footballers got the chance to walk out as mascots with the Hartlepool United team in September.

Take a look at the photos below to see all of the exciting activities we took part in.

Carlton Camp

In December, the children enjoyed a week-long trip to Carlton Outdoor Education Centre.
