Land Ahoy!

Our second topic of the academic year is Land Ahoy! During this topic we will be focusing on pirates and sailing. In Geography we will be learning about the seven continents and the five oceans of the world. In DT we will be designing and making our own pirate pizzas and in Art we will be looking at the work of other artists and creating our own versions. 

In Maths we will be focusing on addition and subtraction, money and multiplication and division. In English we will be learning how to write instruction, recounts and letters. Our author of the term is Jonny Duddle and we will be looking at his work in Guided Reading. 

Our visit to the National Maritime Museum of Hartlepool

We visited the National Maritime Museum to learn about the life of a pirate and crew members on board a ship. We learned about the foods that pirates would eat and the clothes they would wear. 

Pirate Pizzas

As part of our DT work we designed and made our own healthy pirate pizzas. We discussed which ingredients would be the best to use before making them. 

Seven Stories Visit

As part of World Book Day we had a visit from Seven Stories in Newcastle. We explored some books that we had not read before and we got to choose our favourites.
