Grow, Persevere, Succeed. Be the best you can be!
This term in Year 4 we will be learning about the Vikings and Anglo Saxons. We have some brilliant trips planned and exciting lessons ahead! We will be visiting the power station in February to learn about electricity and how Hartlepool gets its power. Keep your eyes peeled for our trip photographs.
In English this term we will be reading a book called, 'Warriors of Honour'. This book is all about Viking sagas and heroes. In Maths we will be learning about multiplication, division and area! Loads of fun!
Class 6 visited the Power Station yesterday (5/2/19). We had lots of fun and learned new facts. See our did you know fact video below. We dressed up in safety clothing and had a tour of the generators and the fire engine! It was lots of fun. In the afternoon, we made our very own pylons. They had to be over 75cm tall and withstand a wind test! Everyone's pylons passed the test!
We visited Queens Meadow Care Home on World Book Day to share some poems with the residents. We wrote our own version of Allan Ahlberg's poem Please Mrs Butler. The residents loved listening to the children's poems and were blown away by their confident, fluent reading! We loved sharing our poems with the residents and we loved listening to their stories even more.
This term we are learning about electricity. We have already visited the Power Station to see where our electricity is generated so we wanted to make our very own electric circuits. We had lots of fun making complete circuits, finding out about switches and investigating conductors and insulators of electricity.
This term we have put our knowledge of the Vikings to the test and made our very own Longships. We designed our own ships after conducting some research. We made a mock up using plasticine, we changed our design if we needed too and created our final product using clay.
