Important Information

Homework

Homework is given on at Tuesday and needs to be returned on a Friday. Please speak to Mrs. Parkinson or Mrs. Doyle if you need any support with your child's homework.

We have P.E. on a Monday. Please make sure your child has a P.E. kit in school.

* White t shirt.

* Black shorts.

* Gym shoes.

Reminder! Please remember to add your child's name in each item of kit.

What can you do to help your child at home?

Please read with your child at home everyday and then record it in the yellow reading log. This will help your child make progress with their reading. Their reading record will also go into a prize draw to win £5!

What exciting things have we been learning?

Sports Day!

We had a fantastic time keeping fit! The winning country was Great Britain!

Durham Cathedral

We had a wonderful day at the Cathedral and even took part in a service at the tomb of St Cuthbert!

The Tiger  Child

We have been reading stories from other cultures and this story is from India.

A short film of one of my picture books 'The Tiger Child'. This book is published by Puffin Books. The folk tale comes from India and explains why tigers eat their food raw, and how cats first came to live with people.

Our Visit to the Headland!

This half term out topic is Beachcombers and we will be learning all about the sea! We will be having a trip to the Headland to see what we can discover in the rock pools!

We have enjoyed learning about nocturnal animals in literacy.

Our topic this half term is Wriggle and Crawl! We will be learning about Mini-beasts!

We me lots of interesting creatures when we had a visit form Discovery Zoo! Brian the Giant African Land Snail was very inquisitive! He even had a char with Mrs Parkinson!

 

Alisa had a new hair accessory on her bun! An Indonesian Spiny Stick Insect!

 

Boy George the Chameleon was very friendly!

Our Scented Garden WOW Day

Wednesday 11th March 2015

We worked with Paul the gardener to find out about plants. Our Parents came into school to help us plant seeds!

Our Visit to Rossmere Park

 

We went to investigate which other plants we could see. We used digital cameras to take photographs and drew maps of the park.

We had lots of fun on World Book Day! We all dressed as a character from a book.

The Mystery Story!

 

We became authors as a class by writing a mystery story which we made by using children from our class and our secret objects which we brought from home an opened on the day! You will be able to read the story soon!

World Book Day

A Storyteller in School!

Chris Connaughton came into school to share the story of the The Firebird.

This story comes from Eastern Europe and has also been turned into a famous ballet!

This half term our topic is Land Ahoy! We will be learning about pirates, making boats and writing our own pirate stories.  We have been reading this pirate story by Jonny Duddle.

HT2

We have had a sticky start to HT2 with our Muck, Mess and Mixtures topic!

We have experimented with lots of different materials and got a bit dirty but we had lots of fun!

Our visit to MIMA

We went to learn about art and sculpture adn tried out some new ways to create art.

We played "Don't Look Down!". For this we had to draw a partner by only looking at their face!

We tried making art to music! The best artists were the best dancers!

HT1

The first topic of the year was Towers, Tunnels and Turrets.
