School Uniform

Uniform at Grange Primary School

We encourage all children to wear our school uniform where possible. This supports our sense of school community.

We do recognise, that some children may have individual needs, including sensory issues, which make it more challenging to wear all items of our school uniform.  Where this is the case, staff will work with families to agree any adaptations and support how we can overcome any barriers that can be overcome. Please get in touch with your child’s class teacher, your child’s Phase Lead (Mrs Archer, Mrs Gallagher, Mrs Sinnott or Mr Beane), Mrs Musgrave or Mrs Gallagher (SENDCO) or a Family Support Officer, if this is something you would like to discuss.

At Grange Primary School we ensure that the cost of school uniforms is affordable to parents and carers.

Although branded uniform is available, there is no expectation for parents to purchase this. We have a range of uniform options that are available from low cost outlets including mainstream supermarkets in order to reduce the cost for parents and carers.

We have free second hand uniform, as part of our uniform recycling scheme, which is always available from our Family Support Officers and we regularly promote this in our school hall for parents and carers to access. We accept good quality second hand uniform from parents and carers which will be recycled as part of this scheme.

Our school uniform consists of:

Grey skirt, trousers or tunic (available from most supermarkets).

Grey or purple sweatshirt, cardigan or jumper (available from most supermarkets). Branded purple jumpers and cardigans are available from the school but these are optional.

Purple and yellow striped school tie (optional).

White or purple polo shirt (available from most supermarkets). Branded white polo shirts are available from the school but these are optional.

In Summer, there is the option to wear a checked dress- in lemon or lilac or black, navy or grey shorts (available from most supermarkets).

Our PE Kit consists of:

White T-shirt, black shorts and black gym shoes (available from most supermarkets).

School will provide a PE bag (free of charge) when this kit is brought into school.

It is useful for children to have a bag in order to transport their reading book to and from school. Branded book bags are available from school (optional).

Jewellery including necklaces and bracelets should not be worn in school. Last year, our school councillors decided that children should be able to wear small stud earrings (such as those in the attached image). The earrings should not be worn on days that the children have PE. If they are, the child will have to take the earrings out. If a child has recently had their ears pierced and can't remove their earrings for a period of six weeks, their parents must sign a disclaimer at the school's office to allow them to participate in PE lessons. Plasters should be placed over the earrings in this circumstance only.
