Spelling

At Grange, we follow the Spelling Shed Programme which is fully aligned to the National Curriculum. Spelling Shed focuses on word study and we recognise the value of this in fostering pupils' phonological, orthographic, morphological, and etymological awareness in order to help them spell words quickly and accurately. Children are explicitly taught the spelling rule for the week on a Monday in lessons and tested on the following Friday. Children can also log in to Spelling Shed online to complete activities to reinforce their learning.  

As part of the scheme children will be taught the common exception words in Year 1 and 2 as well as the statutory word lists for Years 3/4 and Years 5/6.
