Week 2 - Time
To be able to talk about time in terms of night and day, days of the week and months of the year.
This week we will be singing days of the week and months of the year songs. We will also work on sequencing familiar events such as toothbrushing. We will use pictures to support the children with this. Look at the pictures below. Can your child put them in order?

Week 3 and Week 4 - Composition of numbers to 5
To know the 1 more/1 less relationship between numbers to 5.
This week we will be looking at representations of numbers to 5 and we will make our own 1-5 books to show these. This will be kept in our maths area. We will work hard to place numbers to 5 on a washing line focusing on one more and one less than given numbers.
During these weeks we will be working with a five frame and counters to help the children to build visuals of how numbers to 5 can be represented.
Week 5 and 6
To recognise language associated with 2D shapes, specifically triangles, squares, rectangles and circles.
We will be looking at the number of sides and corners each shape has as well as noticing if the shape has straight or curved sides. We will encourage the children to see that a square is a special type of rectangle that has 4 equal sides.
To help your child with their learning, you could complete a shape walk at home, on the walk to school or when you are out and about. Ask your child how many corners/sides they can see in a shape and to look for a shape that is bigger/smaller than the one they have found. It is important we focus on the properties of shapes as well as naming them.

This will help children to develop their spatial awareness.
