Getting in every opportunity for developing drawing skills - waiting for the bus!

A tour of our amazing university in Hartlepool

Learning the basic techniques of surface printing and using a heat press

Shiorli talks through the process and shows us the inks and fabrics We watched and listened carefully knowing we would get our turn soon We listen to advice about colour, shapes and repeating patterns A basic design can also be very effective if done correctly But what if we want to add other media to our design? The possibilities are endless. Three identical designs in any orientation Placed on polycotton fabric within the heat press ..and covered in protective layers It reaches very high temperatures so we just watched this part of the process How long do we need to wait? Just one minute We wait as the colour and design transfers onto the fabric The fabric is hot at first so we hold the ends carefully as it cools And then evaluate our outcome Wow!! We didnt expect the colours to transfer so brightly
