What is a Shadow?

This half term we will be learning about shadows and reflections. We will be looking at our own shadows and how shadows are made. We will also be visiting Seaton Carew beach to learn bout some of the animals that live their and shadows that are made under the sea. You can help at home by looking at different shadows on your way to nursery on a sunny day. Challenge your child to see if they can run away from their shadow.

This week we have been using boxes to build different things. Can you guess what they are? We also had a foam pool outside. Look at the fun we had.

HT5

Are Eggs Alive?

This half term we are also going to be visiting Tweddle Farm to learn about the animals that live there. You could help at home by talking to your child about the different animals you see when out and about and how you look after pets.

On Friday 24th April, we had 'Yellow Day' in Nursery. The children all wore yellow and we did lots of different activities using the colour yellow. Have a look at the pictures below of Bexley's idea to make yellow patterns using yellow paint and a bike.
The chicks have continued to grow and are now getting quite large for their box. Today the children helped to build a pen outside and put the chicks in their new pen. The chicks thoroughly enjoyed sunbathing and stretching their legs!
We now have 9 baby chicks. The children have really enjoyed holding them. Take a look at the photographs below.

Half Term 4

Are Eggs Alive?

This half term our topic will cover a variety of aspects, including Chinese New Year and Easter. We will be learning about what animals hatch out of eggs and will be visiting the local park to see the ducks. You could help to support our topic at home by:

  • making/ trying some Chinese food
  • making a Chinese lantern
  • finding pictures on the internet of Chinese celebrations
  • making Easter cards
  • decorating Easter eggs
  • having an Easter egg hunt
  • reading Easter stories
Please complete a 'Story from Home' speech bubble to tell us about the things you have been doing at home and you could also send some photographs too.

Fine Motor Skills

This half term we have been trying lots of exciting activities to improve our fine motor skills which will help us when we begin to write. Take a look at some of the things we have been doing, you may also want to try some of these ideas at home.

Half Term 3

Did dragons exist?

This half term, our topic is did dragons exist? We are going to be learning about castles and the people who live inside them by reading and becoming familiar with different fairytales such as Jack and the Beanstalk, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty. We will also be visiting the Belle Vue Centre to have Prince and Princess party on their bouncy castle.

You could help your child at home by:

  • reading fairytales with your child
  • finding out some information about a castle
  • make a crown or castle using cardboard or boxes you may have at home
  • making princess necklaces using pasta painted different colours and thread onto string. You can teach your child about how to make repeating patterns using two different colours.

We would love you to let us know about some of the fairytale things that you have been doing at home.
