Our topic this term is all about the Anglo Saxons and Vikings. Class 5 and 6 went on a fantastic trip to Palace Green Library to learn all about them. The children looked at artifacts, dressed up as Anglo Saxons and even made Viking artwork!
In science we are learning all about electricity. So far we have discovered how electricity travels, how to make an electrical circuit and about electrical safety. The children carried out an experiment to find conductors and insulators of electricity.
Exciting reading news!
This is term we have introduced two exciting new reading schemes. Accelerated Reader and Comprehension Express. So far the children are enjoying both schemes, in particular they are enjoying the new reading quizzes on iPads after they have read a book on their Accelerated Reader level and collecting points to go towards certificates and prizes. The children are also engaging very well in Comprehension Express and love discussing each exciting story with their buddy and using their expert tip cards.
Class 5 and 6 were lucky enough to have the sports and recreational team from Hartlepool Council visit us to talk about dementia. We played lots of fun activities and games to help us understand what dementia does and how people with dementia think and feel. At Grange Primary we feel it is important for children to have an awareness of dementia and understand how those effected by the disease may feel and how to interact with and help those with dementia. The children learned a lot and had lots of fun too!
