Topic Work

Caterpillars have been busy exploring the story of Jack and the beanstalk.  We made magical castles in the clouds using glitter and foam, practised  large steps and small steps at phonics time, pretending to be Jack and the giant.  We also got to work planting our own vegetables and climbed Jacks beanstalk too .....Take a look !

........and finally we have reached another half term and what a busy week it has been. We made and tasted pancakes for pancake Tuesday, managed to enjoy Chinese New year and wish you a happy Valentines day. A little early but why not!smiley

Madame Dragons Training school

Caterpillars had a great time with Madame Dragon. We got to sing, dance and pretend to be dragons too. We had a funny story with a dragon burping bubbles!

Children learn from growing things

  • Responsibility – from caring for plants
  • Understanding – as they learn about cause and effect (for example, plants die without water, weeds compete with plants)
  • Self-confidence – from achieving their goals and enjoying the food they have grown
  • Love of nature – a chance to learn about the outdoor environment in a safe and pleasant place
  • Reasoning and discovery – learning about the science of plants
  • Physical activity – doing something fun and productive
  • Cooperation – including shared play activity and teamwork
  • Creativity – finding new and exciting ways to grow food
  • Nutrition – learning about where fresh food comes from

World Book Day

A big thank you to all our families who managed to attend our revised world book day. It was well worth waiting for. We enjoyed chocolate milkshakes and biscuits, shared our journals, played with our puppet theatre and looked at our favourite books and rhymes.

Happy Mother's day to our caterpillar families

SPORT RELIEF 2018

A big thank you to all of our families for supporting Sports Relief 2018. We had lots of much fun jumping, running and dancing. Just a typical day in Caterpillars really !

Little Land Play

A brilliant visit to Little land play to round off our Spring term this week. It is a children’s play centre for the under 7s. A  play environment that is the home of big imaginations as you will see from the photographs. . The children can explore the real world through role-play which benefits their language development and social skills. It is great fun too !
