Grow, Persevere, Succeed. Be the best you can be!
At Grange Primary School, we believe that it is essential for children to achieve optimum physical and emotional development as well as good health in a safe and supportive environment. High quality physical education lessons are at the centre of this development to allow children to develop skills in the different areas of sport and stay safe.
Many of the skills taught in lessons enable children to develop teamwork and allowing them to collaborate and cooperate with each other. Children learn to understand fairness and equity of play to embed life long values.
Within PE lessons, we believe that children have the right to the best training and coaching as part of their development. For this reason, we invite experts into school to teach and coach. Some of the organisations we have worked with over the last year have included:
SEND Statement
Grange Primary promotes a curriculum that puts all pupils, regardless of their needs, at the heart of what we do. By building mutual respect, we accept others for their differences believing that everyone is special and everyone has something to offer. Our inclusive and enriching curriculum, written for all children, provides pupils with meaningful and aspirational experiences as well as promoting personal growth for life-long learning. When the curriculum needs adapting to suit the needs of individual children, appropriate modifications are made by the class teacher with support from the SENDCo and the Curriculum Subject Lead.

This year, we are taking part in the Tees Valley Active Schools project. Our focus is making our learning more active, by introducing short activity breaks to our teaching sequences. Also, the Year 5 playground leaders have been looking in to how we can improve the activity levels for all children across school during breaktimes.
In April, our school councillors from Years 4, 5 and 6 were invited to pitch in a 'Dragon's Den' event at Teesside University where a potential £3000 was available to help support increase activity levels in our school.
In preparing for the event, children in Key Stages 1 and 2 were asked how we could improve playtimes. The school councillors then complied a wish-list and budgeted how to purchase the items. The children then delivered their pitch to the team of Dragons, where they were successful in receiving the funding! Watch this space for updates on the new equipment that we'll be purchasing! Well done to the team of children - their presentation was superb! Afterwards, we were given a tour of the University before returning to school to spread the good news!
